Shen Ling Xiang was born in Yangshuo, Guangxi in 1953. He studied painting since childhood and specializes in sketching from nature. His brush stroke has a unique artistic style. His Lijiang River landscape painting was named Ink Sketch with obvious traces of Western sketch paintings. Shen is a relatively successful artist in painting Lijiang River night scene. What makes his paintings valuable is that his paintings are all sketches drawn artwork.

Shen leads a relatively self-contained life with little contact with the outside world. Thus his paintings retain some of the original traits. As our society becomes more assimilated, it is admirable that Shen can keep his unique style.

申淩翔，廣西陽朔人，生於1953年。自幼習畫，注重寫生；其筆墨變化有獨特的藝術風格。畫界稱其灕江山水畫為水墨素描，帶有明顯的西畫寫生痕跡。他是畫灕江夜景比較成功的畫家。更有價值的是，其畫作都是以寫生稿畫的。

數十年來，申淩翔除了外出寫生之外很少出門，他苦心作畫，少與外界接觸，因而保留了一些原始的特質，在社會日趨同化的今天，藝術家能保存一份純真，實在難能可貴。
